SUPPORT TOWER CLIMB TEAM
The fight against blood cancers is close to our hearts; several in our own department and in the surrounding community have been struck by these diseases. On March 10, a team of eight NKF&R firefighters will climb the 69-story tower in full bunker gear and breathing apparatus. Not only will this be a physical challenge, it is also a fundraising challenge; all proceeds will support the work of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Washington.
Public Practice Session
Sunday, February 3 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
See firefighters don their gear and breathing apparatus and climb on a step-mill to train for the event. Talk with team members. Drop by with a donation.
Climb to the Tap
Friday, February 22 from 5 – 9 p.m.
Off-duty team members will demonstrate their tower climb training regime on the step-mill. There will also be live music, refreshments and a raffle of gifts from local businesses.
73% of car seats are improperly installed or used; make sure your kids are riding as safely as possible
NKF&R’s certified child passenger safety technician checks child car seats for free on the second Saturday of every month, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The next local seat check will be on February 9 at the district’s headquarters fire station (26642 Miller Bay Rd NE, near Kingston).
