January 5, 2001 01-02-01 (KINGSTON, Kitsap County) -- Two women were transported to the hospital this afternoon after the car in which they were riding was struck in the side by a full-size passenger van.
North Kitsap Fire & Rescue crews were called to State Route 104 at its intersection with Ohio Avenue today shortly before 1:00pm. The vehicles had been moved ot a nearby parking lot. The small car, a Geo Metro, suffered substantial damage to its right side with the vehicle's door intruding six inches into the passenger compartment. The van sustained little damage to its front bumper. The 23 year-old female driver of the Metro appeared uninjured in the crash, but was taken by paramedic unit to Bremerton's Harrison Memorial Hospital with a serious asthma attack. The front seat passenger, a 40 year-old female, was also transported with possible injuries to her right side. Both women has been wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The occupants of the van denied any injuries.
The Kitsap County Sheriff's Office was on the scene to investifate the cause of the crash. |
