NKF&R serves an area of approximately 50 square miles on the tip of the Kitsap Peninsula (shown in the center  of the map at left) in Washington State.  Just a ferry ride away from Edmonds and the greater Seattle area,  the fire district includes several small communities such as Hansville, Kingston, Indianola and Suquamish.

Most of the district's boundaries meet the shores of Puget Sound.   NKF&R's western line runs from Sandy Hook (near the Agate Pass Bridge to Bainbridge Island) to just south of Port Gamble.

On the map at right, the Hansville, Kingston, South Kingston and Suquamish stations are shown in red -- indicating that they're fully-staffed with firefighters assigned there 24 hours/day, 365 days/year. This configuration is the result of the district's efforts to relocate its facilities and provide higher levels of service with 24-hour staffing.  The district is proud to have an average response time of about 6 minutes.

While our firefighters welcome routine visits  to any of our stations, crews may not be available when you stop by.   Their duties often take them away from the stations on emergency responses, training and other duties.  For this reason, it's always best to call 9-1-1 if you have an emergency.
